I am sad to see this. Laurie was a friend from the Pollard days, the days of sleep overs, which had nothing to do with actual sleeping. I have memories of her as an adorable, cheerful, athletic sprite of a girl; always smiling.
Laurie was one of the best friendly, always smiling, the spirt of life. I do not know how Laurie passed, but we will all meet again and I look forward to that. Blessings!
I remember Laurie as a friendly outgoing person, a wonderful friend and great athlete. I was saddend many years ago to learn she had passed away. I don't have facts, but I was told she was in a fatal car accident while driving home from grad school in a snow storm. Don't take as fact, just what I was told second hand.
I remember Laurie from when we went to St Joseph’s School. I remember her as being very popular. She always had a smile or good word to say. She was pretty. Also very athletic. I was so sorry to hear she had passed. Rest In Peace, Laurie.
I believe Tom is basically right, I'm not sure of the details either. I know that she was living in Hickory, North Carolina (western part of the state up in the mountains) and I believe she was coaching and teaching at the high school. I do know that she was very well respected in the town and the girls she coached loved her. I was frustrated as I'd only recently learned she was in Hickory at the time and planned to go see her as I was stationed at Fort Bragg about 3 hours away. Unfortunately, it never came to pass. Our families were close and when we were younger used to spend New Years Eve together as our families would go to Mass at St. Joe's and then go to South Pacific in Newton for dinner. That smile and her effervescence was one thing I'll always remember about her. A very sweet girl.

Tom is correct. Laurie was in a car crash while driving home for either Thanksgiving or Christmas during a storm.
