Craig King

Craig King

Craig died of brain cancer on January 3rd, 2010 at home in NYC in the arms of his wife Barbara and surrounded by his family.
During his life Craig had achieved great respect both professionally and personally as a man who was always committed to social and personal growth. Whether at work in the public sector, or in his private life, he strove to improve the lives of others. He was very funny, intellectual, kind and a brilliant critical thinker, as well as visionary in his professional life. Craig attended Boston University and graduated with a BA in Urban Studies and Economics and received his MS in Urban and Regional Planning at Rutgers University.
At the time of his death he had served as the Commissioner of Development for the City of New Rochelle, NY for seven years during which time he led a department responsible for economic development, housing and community revitalization. Prior to his tenure in New Rochelle Craig had led a distinguished career in development spanning both the federal and state levels. While his experience and expertise were lent for many years to overseeing regional development and multi-million dollar projects in Washington D.C and Massachusetts, his primary passion remained for local economic development and city planning.
Craig was a practicing Zen Buddhist. He was a loving and devoted father to his 3 sons Peter, David and Danny, and to his stepson Evan and stepdaughter Eleanor. He will always be missed. If anyone wishes to touch base about Craig please contact his wife Barbara Singer at BlueOpal94@aol.com.
